There is simply no way around it, once the bunnies hit 1 week old and started to emerge from their nest box, they were absolutely adorable.

While I was taking their picture, one of them even did me the favor of hopping out of the nest box completely and exploring the cage, despite his/her eyes still being closed.

Unfortunately, this tendency for expeditions resulted in one bunny jumping out of the cage (which was really just an old dog crate), being scooped up by our beagle, Tuck, and luckily rescued from the dog’s mouth by Will. We believe the bunny was unharmed, but played it safe and switched out the old dog crate for a newly built cage made of hardware cloth aka rabbit wire, so as to avoid any further death defying leaps.
What’s that phrase, you are so cute I could eat you up?

Are you really going to eat these bay bunnies??
Not as babies, but yes, when they are full sized (at about 2 months), we will process them as meat rabbits. I promise they won’t be as cute then!
These pictures just made my morning. The new blog looks great! Hope you guys are doing well and survived the temps last night
