The more I blog, the more complex my feelings about the farm become.  For example, just today I was thinking about how it’s been a while since I posted anything about the ducks, those dutiful animals that provide us five lovely eggs a day and quack about the front yard as if it were a cocktail party.

I thought this in the same way a mommy blogger might worry that she’s been posting too much about one sibling and that the other might notice.  Hmmm, interesting.

But about those ducks.  Given the recent rains and the warmer weather, they are happier than pigs in mud.  No, seriously, the pig pen is nothing but muck right now and the mood of those tamworths hasn’t improved one bit.  But the ducks are thrilled!

The downside of this joy is that they are completely reluctant to abide by their 9 PM curfew, meaning I’m back to capping off my evening by playing a not so quick game of trying to talk water fowl into their home, followed by the occasional escalation to chase a duck.  I do not recommend engaging in a match of chase a duck if it has recently rained and you’ve already showered for the day.  This is a guaranteed fall into a mixture of mud and duck shit, very much requiring an additional shower and some low grade swearing.

Regardless, I still love these goofy birds.
